In other words, have you ever hit your i5 processor's limits?Īnthony P. I never saw any of the performance issues others had with LR4.0 or 4.1Ĭletus, has lightroom ever slowed down enough to the point that you wished you had an i7 quad-core processor? In spite of that LR4.2 just hums right along. I'm running LR with a Late 2011 iMac (i5 Quad Core & 16 GB RAM) My RAW NEFs are 36 mp and dwarfs other camera's image file sizes. I'm planning to sell the MBP before the end of the year and replace it with a newer MBA (13", 2.0Ghz i7 Quad Core, 8G RAM, 512 SSD). Both are performing well enough to get anything I need done efficiently. The MBA is generally speaking faster at processing than the MBP. Both have the same LR 4.2 software installed, and are running OS X 10.8.2. Both are connected to either an Apple Cinema Display 27" LED or Apple Thunderbolt Display 27", which are calibrated and profiled. LR catalog is on the internal drive with the MBP and on the external drive with the MBA. 2011 (late) Apple MacBook Air 13" (1.7 Ghz i5 processor, 4G RAM, 128G solid state drive)Īll photo data is stored on external drives (FW800).
